Greetings to readers and fans of The Christian Observer!
As I write this letter to you, I do so with many mixed emotions. Yes, bittersweet is how I would describe my feelings at the moment.
On the one hand, they’re sweet because I am so excited about the plans that God has for my life. But on the other hand, they’re quite bitter because this will be my last time addressing you as the Editor of The Christian Observer.
The Lord has called me into service elsewhere: as a full-time student at the Palmer Theological Seminary in Philadelphia, Pa., where I will be studying for a Master of Divinity degree. This is a journey I actually first heard the Lord calling me to almost four years ago. At that time, I wasn’t ready, so I rejected what I heard. But a year ago, He spoke again. This time, I heard, accepted, and moved. As I did, the Lord directed me to Palmer and opened up doors for me to receive scholarship monies to pay for my graduate theological studies, further confirming this commission.
In addition to participating in the full-time M.Div. program, I’ll also be working with The Sider Center on Ministry and Public Policy at Palmer (the organization that awarded me my scholarship) and PRISM Magazine, the premier publication of Evangelicals for Social Action, a ministry of the Sider Center. (I’m getting giddy with anticipation just typing these words. Praise the Lord!)
Though I am extremely elated about this God-ordained opportunity to learn, grow, be used, and become more effective in the ministry that the Lord has given me, I am grieved about separating from the paper. For nearly three years, I have served this paper in a number of capacities: as Editor, reporter/staff writer, inspirational columnist, delivery girl, PR and marketing consultant, ad sales rep, and Intercessor. It has been a huge part of my life, one that I will sorely miss.
May the Lord continue to bless all that this paper does to honor Him and spread the Gospel of Truth. And may His Grace and Peace be multiplied unto you, through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen.
Firmly in His Grip,
Genikwa R. Williams
